The counting of votes for the recently concluded elections of the Jammu and Kashmir District Development Council (DDC) is underway. The eight-phase election began on November 28 and ended on December 19.

The fate of nearly 4,181 candidates for the 280 seats of the District Development Council (DDC) in Jammu and Kashmir will be decided on Tuesday.

A day before the vote counting in the District Development Council elections in Jammu and Kashmir, authorities took at least 20 political leaders into preventive custody on Monday, including three senior PDP officials.

PDP President and former Prime Minister Mehbooba Mufti described the arrest of her party leaders as “Gunda Raj out and out” and accused the BJP of planning to “manipulate” the results.

Authorities said authorities took 20 leaders, including Sartaj Madni, Mansoor Hussain and Naeem Akhtar of the PDP, into preventive custody during the day.

Similar measures are also being taken against top politicians in other districts of the Kashmir valley, officials said.

On Twitter, Mufti said that three senior party leaders, Sartaj Madni, Mansoor Hussain and Naeem Akhtar, were “arbitrarily detained.”

While Madni and Hussain were detained earlier that day, Akhtar was detained late at night.

Mehbooba said: ‘Total anarchy, as Sartaj Madni and Mansoor Hussain of the PDP have been arbitrarily detained today on the eve of the results of the DDC elections. All the high ranking police officers here have no idea as it is’ upar say order ‘. There is no longer the rule of law in J&K. It is out and out of Gunda Raj. “

Madni, a former vice president of the former Jammu and Kashmir assembly, is also Mehbooba’s uncle, while Hussain is a former MLA. Both leaders are from southern Kashmir.

In another tweet tonight, Mehbooba said that Akhtar was abducted by the Jammu and Kashmir police and that they would take him to the MLA shelter. He added that democracy was being assassinated in JK.

The first DDC elections in Jammu and Kashmir were held in eight phases and the authorities implemented all the arrangements for the counting of votes on Tuesday.
