Later, speaking to journalists, Manjhi advised newly elected congressional legislators to join the NDA for the advancement of the state.

“Nitish Kumar’s development plans are not much different from those of Congress. Also, he has steered clear of many issues that are not of interest to the state. Therefore, you can join us at the NDA and contribute to development. from the state, “Manjhi said.

Mr. Manjhi had started his political career in Congress in 1980. He later moved on to RJD and then to JD (U). He left the JD (U) after he was forced to resign to pave the way for Nitish Kumar’s return as Prime Minister and later formed the Hindustani Awam Morcha.

Kumar had resigned as prime minister in 2014 after taking moral responsibility for JD (U) ‘s poor performance in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, when only two of his candidates won, and installed Manjhi as CM. When Kumar wanted to get the chair back, a defiant Manjhi initially refused, but gave in to pressure.

Kumar facilitated his return to the NDA just before the assembly elections to counter another Dalit leader, Chirag Paswan, who left the ruling alliance in Bihar and went to meetings alone.

Manjhi’s party was given seven seats to compete out of JD (U) ‘s 122 quota, and the party did well, winning four.

The HAM leader said that he will not become a minister in the new government headed by Nitish Kumar after being prime minister.
