In an attempt to provide more opportunities and opportunities to pass competitive exams for engineering courses, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ announced on Wednesday that JEE-Mains will be held four times a year from 23-26 February 2021.
The exams will take place in four sessions in February, March, April and May.
“We have reviewed input from students and from various sectors and it has been decided that JEE-Mains will be held in four sessions in February, March, April and May,” said Nishank.
The first session exam will take place from February 23 to 26, 2021. The results of the exam will be declared after 4-5 days from the last date of the exam, added the Minister of Education.
“The measure will ensure that students do not miss opportunities due to exam crash or due to the current COVID-19 situation,” he added.
Nishank also said that students will have the option to answer 75 questions (25 each in Physics, Chemistry, and Math) out of 90 (30 each in Physics, Chemistry, and Math). The list / ranking of merits will be prepared based on the candidate’s best score, he added.
Furthermore, in view of the New Education Policy, the JEE (Mains) 2021 exam will be conducted in 13 languages: Hindi, English, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The exams will be conducted in computer-based test mode, while B.Arch’s exam in offline mode, the education minister said.
The announcement came after the Minister of Education in an online interaction with students last week, said that the government is considering taking the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) three or four times a year and is evaluating a proposal to reduce the number. of questions students can try in JEE (Main) 2021.
“Thank you all for sharing your constructive suggestions regarding the (main) JEE exams. We have looked at your suggestions. I will announce the schedule, the number of times the exam will take place today at 6pm,” Nishank tweeted previously.
The Minister of Education has already clarified that there will be no changes to the curriculum for the NEET Medical Entrance Exam or the JEE-Main Engineering Entrance Exam next year.
Competitive exams like JEE and NEET were also postponed twice this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There have been demands to postpone the board exams until May in view of the continued closure of schools and teaching-learning activities that are completely online.
