Dehradun’s Bashar Ahmed with a 99,993 percentile emerged as the state leader in Uttarakhand, in the 2020 Joint Primary Entrance Exam (JEE), the results of which were declared Friday night.
Despite being the first in the state, the 18-year-old was not celebrating his achievement the next morning; preferred to re-prepare for JEE Advance 2020, which is scheduled for September 27.
“I hope my preparation helps me pass the JEE Advance exam as well. For main courses, preparing amid the uncertainty due to the coronavirus pandemic was difficult. I didn’t expect to become the state leader at all. After the exam, I felt like I didn’t do my best, ”Ahmed said.
Now he hopes to pass the advanced exam and study computer engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay.
In class 12, the 18-year-old had scored 97.25% in the science stream.
More than 13,000 students applied for JEE (Main) in Uttarakhand. 13 test centers were established across the state. Police officers were deployed to all examination centers to ensure that all security regulations and guidelines are properly followed.
With many students getting high marks, Suresh Singh, an educator from Dehradun said: “The result this time around is really good, at least in this region, as the students have performed well despite the anxiety of studying during the pandemic.” .
Before the JEE (Main) exam, the state government had sent letters to all district magistrates to make sure that no student faced any problem getting to the exam centers and that the admission card should be considered as a mobile pass to enter to a particular state or district.
The state government also asked the district magistrates to ensure that, along with the students, the support staff who help run the exam also receive as much help as possible.
