JEE leader Guramrit Singh plans another attempt to ‘boost confidence’ for Advanced

Eighteen-year-old Guramrit Singh scored a perfect 100th percentile on the JEE mainstream exam in February. But Singh plans to make a comeback in the next session in the hope that another attempt will boost his confidence in JEE Advanced. “I will seek the advice of my teachers before applying for the April or May sessions. While my entire focus is on the Advanced and CBSE exams, another attempt at JEE Main will help me prepare for future challenges, ”said Singh.

While Singh, who hails from Chandigarh, expected a good score, he was surprised by his percentile. “I want to study computer engineering at IIT-Bombay or IIT-Delhi,” he said.

Singh was simultaneously preparing for the JEE Main and Advanced, the entrance test for IIT. “JEE Main prepared me for the board exams in physics, chemistry, and math. Rest English and physical education will take place in these two months, ”said Singh. CBSE exams will be held in May and JEE Advanced on July 3.

This year, several changes were made to the JEE main paper pattern that Singh said simplified the exam. Introducing four attempts has given students more time to balance board exams and entrance tests, the 18-year-old said.

However, JEE Advanced is more complicated, Singh said and will attempt more mock tests once the board exams are over.

Unlike most teenagers who love social media and find it an ideal way to beat stress, Singh decided to stay away from it until his exams were over. During the pandemic, although many students weren’t happy with the online classes, Singh said it didn’t matter much. “I attended alternate day online school classes and did not appear at previous meetings (held in February) due to JEE Main. I relied solely on the NCERT books and study materials provided by my coaching institute, ”he said.

Singh’s father is a businessman and his mother is a homemaker. Singh’s younger brother is studying in class 10.
