JEE Core Paper 1 Review, Sept 5: Math and Physics Jobs Harder Than Chemistry, Students Say – Education


On the fourth day of the JEE Paper 1 main exam for the BE and B.Tech courses, the candidates found the difficulty level of the questions to be moderate. The main JEE exam began on September 1 with articles B.Arch and B.Planning (paper-2). The exam will conclude on September 6. The first shift exam ended at 12 noon. The examination was carried out following all precautionary measures, including social distancing, the use of a mask and disinfectants. The temperature of the students was checked before entering the exam room.

Difficulty level based on student feedback on September 5, 2020:

Mathematics – Moderate level. Questions were asked from almost every chapter of Co-ordinate Geometry & Calculus. Few number-based questions required extensive calculations. Less weight in Algebra, however, concepts from all chapters covered.

Physics: moderate level. Few number-based questions had extensive calculations. More questions from Mechanics and Modern Physics.

Chemistry: easy to moderate level. The questions were mostly about physical and organic chemistry. More questions based on theory. The level of questions was above the NCERT level according to the students. The number-based question had long calculations.

In terms of order of difficulty, mathematics and physics were equally difficult, and chemistry was easier among the three subjects. This work was of Moderate level according to the students.

Question Paper Pattern:

There were a total of 75 questions and the overall JEE Main Paper-1 score was 300.

The document had three parts and each part had two sections:

Part-I- Physics with a total of 25 questions – Sec-I had 20 multiple choice questions with simple correct answers and Sec-II had 5 number-based questions. The scoring scheme for multiple-choice questions was +4 for the correct answer, -1 for the incorrect answer, 0 for no attempt. The scoring scheme for the number-based questions was +4 for the correct answer and 0 in all other cases.

Part II – Chemistry with a total of 25 questions – Sec-I had 20 multiple-choice questions with correct simple answers and Sec-II had 5 number-based questions. The scoring scheme for multiple-choice questions was +4 for the correct answer, -1 for the incorrect answer, 0 for no attempt. The scoring scheme for the number-based questions was +4 for the correct answer and 0 in all other cases.

Part-III- Math with a total of 25 questions – Sec-I had 20 multiple-choice questions with correct simple answers and Sec-II had 5 number-based questions. The scoring scheme for multiple-choice questions was +4 for the correct answer, -1 for the incorrect answer, 0 for no attempt. The scoring scheme for the number-based questions was +4 for the correct answer and 0 in all other cases.

The questions covered almost all the chapters of the CBSE Class XI and XII Board on all three topics.

Difficulty level based on student feedback on September 5, 2020 (morning session).

Today’s JEE Main (Test-1) morning session article was similar to the January session according to students.

The students were given simple roles for hard work.

There was strict surveillance according to the students.

No errors were reported in the question papers.

Students were forced to leave in batches after 12:00 noon. Adequate social distancing was followed in the exam center.
