A minor JEE applicant has written a letter to the Chief Justice of India, SA Bobde requesting postponement of the NEET, JEE exams. The letter has been sent to CJI through attorney Alakh Alok Srivastava. The applicant has urged the Supreme Court to postpone the exams scheduled to take place in September 2020 for a month or two.
The reason given in the letter for extending the exams by one or two months is due to the pandemic and also the monsoon flood that has affected many states in the country. The letter further states that the extension will help the state government better prepare for the exams amid the pandemic.
The letter also states that in recent findings, COVID19 can be transmitted through the air, which can affect students who will sit for exams and also infect their families, including the elderly and the elderly. Also, wearing masks for five to six hours during the exam would reduce the oxygen supply to the brain and affect its performance.
The minor has also included concerns about applicants with disabilities (Divyang). He has asked that candidates with disabilities, including visually impaired students who respond with physical difficulty, will have to suffer if the exams are taken. The letter also has the petition for review submitted by six opposition cabinet ministers calling for a postponement of the JEE, NEET exams.
In the meantime, Jharkhand CM recently conducted a survey asking the opinion of students on the postponement of the entrance exams. A total of 1.87 lakhs of students have responded to the survey, of which 78.2 percent of students have agreed that students will not face great difficulties if JEE, NEET exams are postponed.
