Actress-turned-BJP leader Jaya Prada on Wednesday criticized Samajwadi party deputy Jaya Bachchan for her moving speech in Parliament for which she has received praise from various Bollywood personalities. In a bid to exonerate the film industry from the onslaught of attacks, Jaya Bachchan said Tuesday that the image of the industry cannot be tarnished because of a few people. “They are biting the hand that feeds them,” said the political actor, a day after Bhojpuri actor-turned-BJP MP Ravi Kishan raised the problem of drug addiction in Bollywood.

Extending his support for Ravi Kishan, Jaya Prada, who was defeated by SP’s Azam Khan in the Rampur Lok Sabha seat, said: “I fully support Ravi Kishan ji’s comments on saving young people from the drug trafficking / addiction problem. . We need to speak out against drug use and we need to save our youth. I think Jaya Bachchan ji is doing politics on the subject. “
On Monday, Ravi Kishan raised the issue of drug addiction in the Lok Sabha, which Bachchan called a “tactic” to divert attention from more serious issues such as unemployment and the economy. “I think the government should support the entertainment industry because it always offers to help the government in whatever good work it does,” said Jaya Bachchan.
