Speaking about the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on foreign affairs, Jaishankar said that major changes will take place during the aftermath of the new coronavirus.

Amid the ongoing China-India border dispute, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday that the government was engaging China through diplomatic and military channels. To ensure peace and tranquility along the border, Jaishankar said both countries must adhere to a series of agreements signed over the past two decades.
Speaking to the Hindustan Times about his upcoming book The India Way: Strategies for an Uncertain World, the Union minister said that in the book, he has presented the rise of a potential global power that India needed to realize the implications of it. Written over a two-year period, Jaishankar said his book answers how the Chinese came to power and where India stands today. He has also explained how the repositioning of the United States had consequences for the entire world, including India and China.
The last time a world power emerged was when the Soviet Union came to power during the World War, however the conflict masked it. Now, she said, it was not simply about the rise of a potential global power, but also the repositioning of another global power that was the lynchpin of world order.
Speaking about the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on foreign affairs, Jaishankar said that major changes will take place during the aftermath of the new coronavirus. In recent years, India has contributed to a major crisis around the world, including the earthquake in Nepal, the civil war in Yemen, and the recent explosion in Beirut. India also provided medical supplies to 150 countries around the world to help them fight the Covid-19 pandemic, he added.
When asked whether Pakistan denied domestic terrorism against India, the minister said that no country used cross-border terrorism openly and that the situation with Islamabad was unique. We must have the confidence in ourselves to tell the neighbor that it cannot be the basis for conducting relationships, he said.
Speaking of China’s stance on the United States’ use of India as a front-line state amid the ongoing clash in Ladakh, Jaishankar said that India possesses a character and interests of its own and cannot be negatively defined as being in against someone. Those who presume they are reflecting their own history and self-esteem, he said.
