Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut said on Wednesday that it is not easy to move the film city of Mumbai elsewhere, even though attempts have been made.
Raut was speaking to journalists amid Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s two-day visit to Mumbai, where he will meet film and industrial personalities.
Adityanath had previously presented an ambitious plan to establish a film city and launched an open offer to film the fraternity to come to Uttar Pradesh.
The UP government previously approved a proposal to establish a film city in Sector 21 along the Yamuna Highway in Gautam Buddh Nagar.
“What is the current state of Noida Film City? Can you create Film City of Mumbai in Lucknow and Patna? “Raut asked.
“Before, attempts were made. It is difficult to replicate the Mumbai film industry elsewhere. Mumbai has a glorious film history and past, “said Shiv Sena’s chief spokesperson.
Raut pointed out that the south and Bengal also have large film industries. Southern superstars Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Chiranjeevi have also worked in Hindi films.
“Does Yogiji go to those states or is he only targeting Mumbai?” asked the Rajya Sabha member.
“He talks about unemployment, falling GDP and the economy, instead of Shiv Sena’s Hindutva,” he said, referring to BJP’s claim that Shiv Sena has renounced his core ideology.
Raut also said that the central government should take action to resolve the farmers’ protest against the new agricultural laws in place on the Delhi borders since last week.
