From impromptu street parties to social media memes and jokes, Joe Biden’s triumph over Donald Trump in a bitter and close presidential election sparked a plethora of reactions from his supporters. Among the many emotional moments captured is that of CNN host Anthony Kapel Van Jones, who was snapped on live television when the channel called the US election in favor of Joe Biden.
“It’s easier to be a parent this morning, it’s easier to be a parent, it’s easier to tell kids that character matters,” Jones said in the video, which went viral on social media. With Biden’s victory, Kamala Harris made history by becoming the first woman and the first person of color to become vice president.
Check out the video here:
“This is a vindication for many people who have really suffered. ‘I can’t breathe.’ That wasn’t just George Floyd. There were a lot of people who felt like they couldn’t breathe, ”he said. This is a big problem, Jones said, “so we can get some peace and have a chance to restart.”
Jones concluded the video by saying, “I want my kids to see this. It’s easy to deceptively do it and get away with it, but it pays off. This is a good day for this country. I am sorry for the people who lost, for them, it is not a good day, but for most, it is a good day ”.
Since it was shared online, the video has sparked several reactions online, with former first lady Michelle Obama being one of the first to comment on Jones’s broadcast.
Van, thank you for expressing the pain and relief we all feel. My hope is that those who were hoping for a different outcome will take a moment to empathize with the pain that many of us have felt over the past four years. pic.twitter.com/eqL1szT1Iz

From a French father on the other side of the Atlantic: Merci Monsieur for her speech on CNN. I know I am right in telling my daughters to be good, not to lie, to trust science, and to seek to be better versions of themselves for the benefit of all. My America is back. All the best!
