It is an open competition, which does not steal investments from any state: Yogi on Film City Project

Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Wednesday that he is not “stealing” any business from Maharashtra. Adityanath, who was on a one-day visit to Mumbai to attract investors, said that the creation of a film city in the state was an “open competition.” UP CM’s statement comes a day after his Maharashtra counterpart Uddhav Thackeray said he will not allow anyone to take business out of Maharashtra.

There is a fight between the ruling Shiv Sena in Maharashtra and the government of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Uttar Pradesh over the latter’s alleged plot to drive the film industry out of Mumbai. Sena’s main spokesperson, Sanjay Raut, asked on Wednesday if UP CM is going to visit other cities where the film industry is large or if it is heading only to Mumbai.

Speaking to the press at the end of marathon meetings with business leaders, investors and film personalities, the UP CM said its government is building a “world-class” film city in Noida, which will be well connected by road and air with Delhi. , Lucknow, Agra, etc.

“The new film city will be built on a 1,000 acre parcel 6 km from the proposed Noida Greenfield International Airport in Jewar. It will be connected to Delhi, Mathura-Vrindavan, Agra and the state capital, Lucknow. The interest shown by people associated with the film industry is a good sign, ”he said.

Earlier in the day, Raut said: “It is not easy to move the city of cinema out of Mumbai. Attempts have also been made before, but how will you recreate the Mumbai atmosphere in UP and Bihar? Are you going to visit other cities in South India West Bengal as they have a big film industry or are you just tackling Mumbai? Raut also asked Yogi Adityanath about the prospect of a film city in Uttar Pradesh.

How can someone take something from someone? It is not a wallet to steal. This is an open competition and who can provide a safe environment, better facilities and most importantly, social security in which all people can work… The city of cinema in Mumbai will continue to function. A film city in UP will be built according to requirements, in a new atmosphere, ”said Yogi.

Responding to Raut’s question through the media, Adityanath said: “We have not come to take anything with us. We are building a new [film city]. Why are you so worried? We are providing a world-class infrastructure. ”

He also held meetings with companies interested in investing in his state, including N Chandrasekaran, President Tata Sons, Niranjan Hiranandani, CMD Hiranandani group and Baba N Kalyani of the Kalyani Group. “I also met with companies interested in investing or who have invested in the defense manufacturing corridor, including Adani Defense, L&T Defense, Mahindra Defense, Hinduja, Seimens, etc. Your suggestions have been accepted. For the city of cinema, we spoke with industry personalities about their requirements, ”he said.

The prime minister also listed the 200 million rupee bond from Lucknow Municipal Corporation, the first civic body in North India. “Uttar Pradesh has the highest municipal bodies in the country. Almost 80 million inhabitants live in urban areas. In an attempt to provide better infrastructure and facilities, we have included bonds for Lucknow Municipal Corporation, the first civic body in North India. After Lucknow, we will inspire Ghaziabad to do the same. This movement will help incorporate transparency and financial discipline into their work, along with creating healthy competition, ”he said.
