PSLV-C50 carrying CMS-01 took off into the cloudy skies over Sriharikota at 3.41pm. It was the 52nd flight of the PSLV from the Sriharikota spaceport and the 22nd flight of the rocket with an XL strap variant.

Approximately 20 minutes after taking off from the second launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Center, PSLV-C50 successfully injected the satellite into a geosynchronous transfer orbit (GTO). Subsequently, the satellite will rise to its final position through a series of orbit lifting maneuvers using its propulsion system.
CMS-01, which has a lifespan of seven years, is expected to provide services in the extended C-band of the frequency spectrum. The extended C-band coverage would include mainland India and the Andaman-Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands, Isro said.

Thursday’s launch was the launch vehicle’s 77th mission from the Sriharikota spaceport. It is also the second launch this year after the launch of the PSLV-C49, which placed the EOS-01 all-weather Earth-imaging satellite and nine other foreign satellites into orbit on November 7.
