Irrfan Khan’s son Babil Khan shared a sweet Mother’s Day wish for his mother Sutapa Sikdar on Instagram. “Long live the queen. Extended mother’s day,” she wrote, sharing two never-before-seen family photos.

The first photo has Babil with one arm around Sutapa, as they look at each other lovingly. In the second image, which appears to have been taken during a family vacation, they are caught in a candid moment when Irrfan poses for the camera. Snow-capped mountains can be seen in the background.

Fans poured out love in the cute clicks. “Good photos, memories to appreciate, moments to live,” wrote one user. “You have a beautiful family,” wrote another. Several people also left heart emojis in the comment section.

Irrfan died on April 29 after a two-year battle with a neuroendocrine tumor. Sutapa shared a statement on behalf of her and her children Babil and Ayaan, in which she said that her premature passing was not “a loss” but an opportunity for them to finally use her teachings in everyday life.

How can I write this as a family statement when everyone takes it as a personal loss? How can I begin to feel lonely when millions are grieving with us right now? I want to assure everyone that this is not a loss, it is a gain. It is a gain from the things it taught us, and now we will finally begin to really implement it and evolve, “the statement said.

“I see my small family, in a boat, with my two sons Babil and Ayaan, paddling forward, with Irrfan guiding them, ‘wahan nahi, yahan se mode’, but as life is not cinema and there are no retreats, I wish I sincerely hope that my children navigate this boat safely with the guidance of their father in mind and approach the storm, “he added.
