The drugs angle in the case being handled by the Bureau of Narcotics Control (NCB) and the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is also verifying the money laundering charges.

With these three main investigative agencies working side by side to arrive at a conclusive truth, reports suggest that after the drug conspiracy angle emerged, a senior IPS official, Sameer Wankhede, has been appointed to investigate the case. . The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officer will be investigating the drug scandal, which is currently being investigated by the NCB. Previously he worked in the repression of several drug businesses.

In 2008 Batch IPS, Sameer Wankhede’s first post was at Mumbai Airport as a customs officer. Later he was also sent to Andhra Pradesh and Delhi. In the past two years, an investigation led by Sameer and his team seized drugs worth 17 billion rupees.

While working in the Customs department, he reportedly did not give customs clearance to many celebrities until they revealed the products purchased in foreign currency and paid taxes on them. He has signed more than two thousand celebrities for not paying taxes.

Interestingly, in 2013, Sameer caught singer Mika Singh at Mumbai airport with foreign currency. The first level officer has also raided the properties of many Bollywood celebrities, such as Anurag Kashyap, Vivek Oberoi, Ram Gopal Varma.

Even the cricket World Cup trophy, which was made of gold, was released at Mumbai airport only after paying customs duties. Sameer Wankhede has also worked at the National Investigation Agency.
