IPL opener between MI and CSK breaks audience records

New Delhi [India], September 22 (ANI): The opening game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between the Mumbai Indians and the Chennai Super Kings broke viewership records when 20 million people tuned in to watch the game.
CSK had managed to defeat the Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener on September 19.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah took to Twitter to announce the feat. “# Dream11IPL’s opening match sets a new record! According to BARC, an unprecedented 20 crore of people tuned in to watch the match. Highest viewership on opening day for any sports league in any country; no league has ever been never open as big as this. ” wrote on Twitter.

CSK captain MS Dhoni announced his return to cricket by recording 100 wins for his franchise on Saturday. CSK defeated the Mumbai Indians by five wickets in the opening match of the 2020 IPL.
With this, Dhoni became the first IPL skipper to record 100 victories as a franchise leader. CSK had been on a five-game losing streak against Mumbai, but after winning Saturday’s game, the Dhoni-led franchise finally won a victory over the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians.
Dhoni returned to the cricket field after 437 days as he last played a match during the 2019 World Cup. He had last played against New Zealand in the semi-finals of the 50+ tournament in July last year.
The former captain of India had announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15 this year. (AND ME)
