IPL franchises want BCCI to give strict warning to coronavirus-hit CSK camp

IPL 2020 has faced a major shakeup after two CSK players and their support staff tested positive for Covid-19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The situation in the United Arab Emirates is also problematic, as many cases have been reported in the country. The country had recently recorded a 10 percent increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.

CSK was supposed to start its training on Friday, but has now been forced to return to quarantine. Sources told the Times of India that players and support staff are among the members who have tested positive for the deadly virus.

The IPL franchise has now urged BCCI to take a strict warning to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to maintain SOP guidelines. The three-time IPL champions had undergone a preparatory camp in Chennai before leaving for the United Arab Emirates. Although it is not clear where the members contracted the virus from, various speculations have been made on social media.

CSK Executive Director Kasi Viswanathan said that when it was announced that the tournament would take place in the United Arab Emirates, he asked Dhoni about the holding of the camp in Chennai, and the captain immediately said that it is imperative that the players understand the situation. Viswanathan also added that Dhoni was very clear with his thoughts.

“When we announced that the tournament was going to happen, I had my reservations about holding the camp here because we had to create the bio-bubble. He actually texted him (asking) if it would be worth having a camp for 5 days before going to Dubai. But the captain was very clear in his thoughts, ”Viswanathan said in a YouTube video for CSK.

“He (Dhoni) said ‘sir, we haven’t played in almost 4-5 months. We all need to meet in Chennai. We should be in a biobubble in Chennai to get used to that when we land in Dubai. ‘

“And it also helped the guys get in shape. This camp, although we had some reservations, has really helped. I am very happy to have been able to host the camp. “

Meanwhile, the 2020 IPL schedule has yet to be announced.
