Several uncapped players were pleasantly surprised at Thursday’s 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) Player Auction in Chennai. Krishnappa Gowtham, the hard-hitting lower-order hitter from Karnataka, became the most expensive purchase among Indian uncapped players in IPL history when Chennai Super Kings bought him for Rs. 9.25 crore. Shahrukh Khan, another uncapped player, was outscored by Rs 5.25 crore by the Punjab Kings. Other uncapped players going for big amounts in the IPL auction are Chetan Sakariya at Rs. 1.2 crore (Rajasthan Royals) and Australian Riley Meredith at Rs. 8 crore (kings of Punjab).

3. Riley Meredith – Punjab Kings (Rs. 8 crore)
A good Big Bash League campaign for the uncovered Riley Meredith helped him land an IPL contract. Meredith, a fast and all-around bowler, has played 34 T20s so far and has collected 43 wickets at 23.62 and an economy rate of 8.06. Meredith entered the auction at a base price of Rs. 40 lakh.
