Arjun Tendulkar, son of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, went to Mumbai Indians in the 2021 IPL auction for his base price of Rs. 20 lakh. Arjun’s was the last name that appeared at the auction and the Mumbai Indians were the only team to bid for the 21-year-old, as he was welcomed by the team his father had played for. Arjun, who has played in Indian networks many times, played for India Under-19s and recently made his debut for the Mumbai T20 senior team at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, got it right just before the auction. He did 77 runs with just 26 balls and collected three wickets to help MIG Cricket Club win at the Police Shield Invitation Tournament in Mumbai.
A left-handed hitter and a left-arm fast pitcher, Arjun arrives with a quality that IPL teams cherish: the variety that left-arm pacemakers bring.
In the two T20s that Arjun played for Mumbai this season, he collected two wickets with a best of 1 for 33.
However, the experience that Arjun brings in terms of learning from Indian players while bowling at them on the nets should be useful in a tournament that is likely to be unlike anything he has played in his career thus far.
However, for that, you will first have to do the Mumbai XI. To do that, you may have to compete with some T20 cricket veterans who have helped Mumbai become the team with the most titles in IPL history – five.
Promoted
Mumbai extended their title run to an unprecedented five trophies in 2020 when they beat Delhi Capitals in the final.
Mumbai also won the IPL in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. It is the second team after Chennai Super Kings to win consecutive IPL titles, in 2019 and 2020.
