IPL 2020: ‘You don’t go in alone with Plan A,’ says CSK CEO on midseason transfer talks – cricket

Chennai Super Kings have endured a mixed Indian Premier League season so far. They languished in seventh position on the IPL points table before facing Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday. Another loss would have made it almost impossible for CSK to qualify for the IPL playoffs. But they advanced and won the game by 20 runs to keep their hopes of finishing in the top four alive.

But still, CSK needs to shore up its batting order as it has been precarious in pressure situations. The middle order does not shoot steadily and because of that CSK has faced a lot of problems during the chase. With the start of the mid-season transfer, CSK could look to some players to supplement the mid-order for them. But CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has commented that the team’s management is not looking at any players at the moment.

“CSK has never brought or released players in the mid-season transfer window and honestly, we haven’t even gone through the rules and regulations that come into play if we are looking for a transfer. We are not looking at any player, ”Viswanathan told ANI.

Additionally, the CEO said that it was unlikely that any team would want to give away a capped player, as all purchases are made at auction with multiple permutations and combinations in mind.

“After all, it’s a competition and I don’t think anyone wants to give up players to another franchise. Some may be playing and some may not, but all players are selected at the auction with numerous plans in mind and for different situations that may arise during the course of the tournament. You don’t just go with Plan A. You have an A, B, C and D, ”he said.

CSK spinner Imran Tahir finished the 2019 edition of the Indian Premier League as the biggest wicket catcher with 26 wickets out of 17 games. But the holder of last year’s purple cap has yet to get the nod this season after eight games. Viswanathan, however, has made it clear that a playing XI spot is just around the corner for the star player.

Speaking to ANI, Viswanathan said that the conditions on offer in the UAE have forced the team’s management to enter with two foreign batsmen and fast bowling all-rounder. But wait for Tahir to enter as the wickets will start to turn.

“He will definitely enter the scene as we move forward. Right now, with the conditions on offer, the composition of the team has been planned with two foreigners at the top as pure hitters and then the two-speed bowling all-rounders. But he will enter with the wickets starting to turn in the second half. You have the restriction of 4 foreigners, so you always plan according to the conditions offered, ”he explained.
