IPL 2020: ‘Where am I being sexist?’

IPL 2020: 'Where am I being sexist?' - Gavaskar defends comments on Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar said his comments about Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli that were made during comments on a 2020 IPL game were taken out of context.

Gavaskar said he was referring to the couple who played cricket in his building during the lockdown period and that there was nothing sexist in his comments.

“As you hear in the comment, Aakash (Chopra) and I were making comments for the Hindi channel. And Aakash was talking about the fact that there has been very little chance that everyone can practice properly. That has been shown in the oxidation of some of the players in their first matches, “Gavaskar told India Today.

“Rohit didn’t hit the ball well in his first game, MSD didn’t hit the ball well, Virat didn’t hit the ball well either. Most of the hitters have done it for lack of practice.

“That was the point that was being made. Virat also had no practice and the only practice they had when they saw them play in their building and Anushka was bowling for him. That’s what I said. That’s the only bowling alley. , I have not used any other words.

“She was playing with him, that’s all. Where do I blame her? Where am I being sexist in this? I’m just saying what was seen in the video that maybe was recorded by someone in the neighboring buildings and then posted. That. It’s the only thing I’m doing

“The point I’m trying to make is that there was no practice for anyone, including Virat at the lockdwon. I am not being sexist. If someone has played it, what can I do?

“I’d like to say it again. Where do I blame her? I don’t blame her. I’m just saying the video said she was bowling with Virat.

“Virat has only bowled during the lockout period. It’s a tennis ball, a fun game where people have to hang out during the lockout. That’s it. Where do I blame her for Virat’s failures? ? “
