Team Yuzvendra Chahal defeated Team Virat Kohli in Royal Challengers Bangalore team practice match prior to the 2020 Indian Premier League. While detailed scores and full teams were unknown, Chahal’s team included AB de Villiers , Devdutt Padikkal, Umesh Yadav and left arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed. Kohli, the captain of the RCB, had the likes of Washington Sundar, Dale Steyn, Mohammed Siraj and Parthiv Patel with him.
“We looked for pairings, we wanted our players to throw left-handers and right-handers and we looked at some possibilities in terms of partnerships through the order. We wanted each team to have left arm spinners, off-spinners and leg matchups,” explained the director of RCB cricket, Mike Hesson.

“When we gave Yuzi the news that he was going to be captain, his face lit up. He was excited. We wanted him as part of our leadership group. He brings a different perspective, obviously taking care of our spinning bowling group. We just wanted him to think about the game a little more. “
The game was played on a slow track, with AB de Villiers as the leading scorer for the Chahal team, which hit first. De Villiers had 43 (33), leading off the batting with Devdutt Padikkal.

Washington Sundar was 2 of 11 in 4 overs, while Shahbaz Ahmed was 3/13.
“It was a challenging surface and it showed different skills. It certainly exposed some additional things that we have to work on. In general, the conditions were challenging,” Hesson said after the match.
