Ravichandran Ashwin gave Aaron Finch a warning for mankading in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Monday in Dubai.

The incident occurred in the third inning of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), when Finch was out of his line, but Delhi Capitals (DC) did not attempt Mankading and allowed Finch to return to his line.

Before the IPL started, Ricky Ponting, the current head coach of the Delhi Capitals, had said that he had spoken to Ashwin about the same thing and stated that he would not like to see ‘Mankad’, the non-forward in the next edition of the IPL. .

The ‘Mankade’ debate has been a topic of debate ever since Ashwin fired Jos Buttler from Rajasthan Royal at IPL 2019, when Ponting, in the run-up to the tournament, was asked if he had spoken to Ashwin about it, the former Australian captain made it clear that he will not allow Ashwin to do the same while playing for the Delhi Capitals.

After the meeting, Ponting had stated that he and Ashwin had reached a common ground on the issue.

It appears that Ashwin heeded his advice and Ponting was seen laughing at the incident sitting in the dugout.

Previously, Marcus Stoinis broke 53, while Prithvi Shaw broke 42 runs to lead Delhi Capitals to a competitive 196/4 against RCB.

Stoinis, who was knocked down at 30 by Yuzvendra Chahal, made RCB pay for the mistake when he ran to his 53 on just 26 balls, hitting a towering two six and six fours at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Shaw, however, missed what would have been a well-deserved half century.
