The Mumbai Indians have toppled the Delhi capitals from first place on the Indian Premier League points table. MI was in sixth position before facing Kings XI Punjab on Thursday with just one lone win in two games. But Rohit Sharma led from the front and broke 70 against KXIP to lead MI to their second win of the tournament. MI beat KXIP for 47 runs and edged Delhi Capitals to claim number one position in the standings.
MI batted first and scored 191 runs in his quota of 20 overs. After Rohit’s innings, Kieron Pollard and Hardik took on the responsibility of leading their team to a grand total. Pollard hit 47 undefeated with 20 balls, while Hardik scored 30 runs with 11 balls and IM reached a total of 191 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. MI bowlers then restricted KXIP to just 143 runs. They now lead the 2020 IPL points table with four points from four games and a healthy NRR of +1,094.
DC is in second place with four points, while the Kolkata Knight Riders have moved up to third position after their victory over the Rajasthan Royals, who have fallen to fourth place. The result has pushed Sunrisers Hyderabad to seventh place, while Royal Challengers Bangalore is the only other team with two victories in fifth place. The loss to MI has pushed KXIP down to sixth position, while last place is held by Chennai Super Kings.
Orange cap
There has been a change to the 2020 IPL Orange Cap roster with Kings XI Punjab captain KL Rahul losing the cap to his teammate Mayank Agarwal. He owns the Orange Cap with 246 runs, while Rahul has 236.
Behind them are Faf du Plessis (CSK), Rohit Sharma (MI) and Sanju Samson (RR) with 173, 170 and 167 races respectively.
Purple cap
Mohammad Shami has become the holder of the Purple Cap after taking a window against MI. He has overtaken Kagiso Rabada of Delhi Capitals who has seven plots.
Behind them are Rahul Chahar of MI, Sheldon Cottrell of KXIP and Trent Boult fast of MI with six wickets each.
