IPL 2020: Players face expulsion for biobubble violation, teams Rs 1 crore and 2 tally points – cricket

Players face expulsion from the tournament and their teams, a hefty fine of Rs 1 crore in addition to the deduction in points if they break the established bio-bubble for IPL.

In a notification sent to all eight participating franchises by BCCI, a player will have to undergo a six-day quarantine for an “unauthorized exit” from the bubble.

It will be a one-match suspension if it is a second offense and a third offense will result in your expulsion from the 2020 IPL without being provided a replacement.

Players could be fined AED 3,000 (roughly INR 60,000) for not completing their daily health passport, not using a GPS tracker, and missing a scheduled Covid-19 test. The same rules apply to family members and team officials.

All players and support staff are tested every five days of the tournament in the UAE.

Team officials must also take great care to ensure that the strict bio-bubble is not broken.

If a franchise allows “anyone in the bubble to interact with players / support staff”, they will have to pay a fine of 1 rupees for the first offense, one point will be deducted for the second offense and two points (equivalent to a win) for the third offense.

In an unlikely but possible scenario when a team cannot line up to a playing XI as there are less than 12 players available, the BCCI will attempt to reschedule and if that is not possible the match will be considered lost.

The teams also face a BCCI investigation in case of repeated violations of the health and safety calls implemented for the event taking place amid the pandemic.

No positive cases have been reported since 13 members of the CSK team, including two players, failed their Covid tests and were registered after the mandatory quarantine.

The Covid-19 pandemic has claimed more than a million lives worldwide since its inception in Wuhan, China.
