IPL 2020: MS Dhoni-led team leadership to decide on return of Suresh Raina, says CSK owner N Srinivasan – cricket

Chennai Super Kings owner N Srinivasan said Wednesday that the team leadership led by captain MS Dhoni will decide whether Suresh Raina will return to the team, if he becomes available again. Raina had unexpectedly pulled out of the 2020 IPL citing “personal reasons,” but in an interview with Cricbuzz, the SUV hinted that fans might see him return to the UAE this year. So can we expect Raina to play for CSK this year?

When asked about the same, Srininvasan said that he is not the owner of the players and therefore cannot make the call about the return of the players.

“Look, please understand that that’s not my domain (whether Raina returns or not) at all,” the former head of ICC and BCCI told the PTI news agency.

“We own a team, we own the franchise but we don’t have players. The team is ours, but the players are not. I don’t own the players, ”he added.

“I am not the cricket captain. I have never told them (team management) who to play, who to bring to the auction, never. We have the best captain of all time. So why should he interfere in cricket affairs? Srinivasan added more.

Meanwhile, speaking in an interview with Cricbuzz, Raina explained her reasons for returning home. “It was a personal decision and I had to go back for my family. There was something that needed to be addressed immediately on the home front. CSK is my family too and Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni) is very important to me and this was a difficult decision.

“There is no problem between CSK and me. No one will simply turn their back on Rs 12.5 crore and walk away without a solid reason. I may have retired from international cricket, but I am still young and looking forward to playing for them in the IPL for the next 4-5 years, ”he added.

CSK has been a three-time champion in the high-profile league, moving to the United Arab Emirates this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
