IPL 2020: MS Dhoni gets gold cap, Ravindra Jadeja a sword at CSK special award ceremony – cricket


Ahead of the 2020 IPL opener against defending champion Mumbai Indians on September 19 in Abu Dhabi, members of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team received awards from the franchise on Thursday.

MS Dhoni, who has led CSK to three IPL titles and is one of their most consistent players in the IPL, was awarded as the team leader for 10 seasons and scoring the most runs for them last season. (Read also: Full coverage of IPL 2020)

“Our usual preseason dinner turned into a memorable lunch this time and our Lions took home some Super Duper awards. #Thala Dhoni for leading the team with the willow and scoring the most runs for the Super Kings at IPL 2019, ”CSK tweeted.

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who recently became the first cricketer to claim 500 T20 wickets, was honored for his impressive achievements.

“Champion Bravo joined from his bedroom to grab one to become the first bowler to climb the wickets of Mount 500 in T20 history,” CSK tweeted.

Australian off-roader Shane Watson, who was one of CSK’s best players at the last IPL, also received a special award.

“Watto Man for giving his sweat and blood on the field for him,” CSK wrote.

A special sword memon was reserved for the all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who is the most successful left-arm spinner in the IPL.

“Sir Jaddu for being the most successful left-arm spinner in the IPL”.

Former Australian hitter Mike Hussey was rewarded for being with the franchise for 10 years.

“Mr. Cricket for always staying super for over 10 years as our favorite Super King,” CSK tweeted.

“Parasakthi Express for bagging the Purple Cap in 2019, also the most windows in an edition of any roulette. If he hadn’t been quarantined, we might have seen him run to Abu Dhabi already, ”CSK tweeted.

“As Sam and Josh head to Den, our newest Lions, Sai Kishore and Piyush Chawla, received their #yellove.”

Despite the Covid setbacks and the withdrawal of Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh, CSK will re-start the tournament as one of the favorites. Their biggest competitor, however, will be the four-time champions of the Mumbai Indians, whom they will face in the lungs opening on Saturday.
