Advance: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are fourth in the 2020 IPL league table and only one place behind them is Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs and we already have more than half of the league games done. Which means that we are at the commercial end of the tournament and each match now comes with a lot at stake for all teams.
The teams cannot afford any more lapses and while the mid-table clash between SRH and KKR is not a mandatory match for either side, both teams would take to the field in Abu Dhabi with only one victory in mind.
KKR enters the match after a loss against Mumbai Indians (MI). They were outclassed in every department by the defending champs and the recent upheaval in the franchise that saw Eoin Morgan take over as captaincy from Dinesh Karthik was reflected in their performance.
The inconsistency of the hitters has been a major headache for the Kolkata team and they would hope they would find their rhythm in Abu Dhabi. In addition to a win, another important goal for KKR in the clash against SRH would be to find their best lineup.
SSR also has its fair share of problems as they battle for form. His hitting relies heavily on the first four batters: Captain David Warner, Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey and Kane Williamson. To win games consistently, SRH needs its middle and lower order to support the higher order. His bowling alley has also been affected, as Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been ruled out of the tournament and Rashid Khan has lost runs in the last two games.
