IPL 2020: I would never leave Shane Watson – Gautam Gambhir’s suggestion for CSK – cricket


The Chennai Super Kings are struggling to find their way back to victory in the 2020 Indian Premier League. The three-time champions won the season opener against the defending champions the Mumbai Indians, but have then lost the next three games. One of the worrying signs for the franchise is the form of starter Shane Watson and questions are being raised whether MS Dhoni could replace Watson in the next game against Kings XI Punjab. In answer to the same question, former Indian cricketer and two-time IPL captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Gautam Gambhir said he would never replace Watson in the game eleven.

Watson, so far, has played four games in which he has scored 52 runs with an average of 13 runs and a strike rate of 108.33.

“I would never leave Shane Watson, because his entire batting order looks so rusty. Kedar Jadhav looks rusty. Ambati Rayudu looks rusty, ”Gambhir said in a chat show on ESPNCricinfo.

“I know Shane Watson is not in the best shape, can you imagine replacing Shane Watson with Ruturaj Gaekwad? Obviously, it’s a young, developing cricket. Or Murali Vijay? I would support Shane Watson for another 4-5 games.
