Kings XI Punjab’s fortunes have changed since the arrival of Chris Gayle. Having lost six games in a row, KXIP snapped their losing streak with a win against Royal Challengers Bangalore last week and most recently beat the Mumbai Indians in a Super Over on Sunday for two wins in two matches.

Against RCB, Gayle turned half a century, while on Sunday he was given the responsibility of attacking in the second Super Over of the match after the first ended in a draw, the second time in IPL history. Needing 12 to win, Gayle threw the first ball, a full pitch by Trent Boult, over the ropes, before Mayank Agarwal finished the game for KXIP.

After the match, Gayle revealed that even though there were no nerves, he was actually angry that KXIP let the game slip away. In the 177 chase, KXIP went 108/2 before losing four wickets one after another and ended with the scores tied.
