IPL 2020 | I felt really bad when Kane Williamson ran out, admits Priyam Garg

Man of the match Priyam Garg admitted he felt awful when Kane Williamson was left out after trying to pinch a fast single right after David Warner was thrown out. However, as Williamson showed his disgust on the field, he told Garg not to worry about it after innings.

After being reduced to 69/4 against the mighty Chennai Super Kings, Priyam Garg and Abhishek Sharma were given the responsibility of resurrecting the Sunrisers Hyderabad innings. When young right-hander Garg came in, the franchise had just lost its patron, David Warner, who holed out deep fielder Faf du Plessis with a Piyush Chawla bowling pin.

The Kiwi batter swiftly hit him to the side of the leg and took off with a quick single only to find Priyam Garg unfazed on the non-forward end. Finally, it led to a single pitch from Ambati Rayudu catching the batter below his crease with Williamson showing his displeasure at Garg. However, after the game, Garg also admitted that he felt awful when the Kiwi hitter ran out.

“He felt really bad when he ran out of runs. He was a steady hitter. That he ran out of runs was a mistake, but it all worked out after that,” Garg told IPLT20.com, Cricbuzz reported.

However, Williamson’s reaction was immediate as the batsman congratulated the young Indian batsman after his swashbuckling innings. The Sunrisers’ fate turned their heads, with the young duo adding 77 runs for the fifth wicket, bringing David Warner’s side to a total of 164, which ultimately turned out to be a game-winning score.

“When I went back to digging, he said ‘Don’t worry buddy, forget it. You hit really well,'” he added.

At the other extreme, Abhishek Sharma also analyzed the game, stating that he received more deliveries than he thought to settle. However, once she took aim at Ravindra Jadeja, there was no turning back for the southpaw, who scored a 31 of 24 balls.

“I thought it might take 3-4 balls to get in, but that turned into 7-8 balls. Priyam was hitting really well, so I thought I shouldn’t be the one to deny the runs, so I decided to target Ravindra Jadeja.” Sharma said.
