IPL 2020: ‘I feel an injustice was done’, Harbhajan Singh on Ambati Rayudu’s exclusion from the World Cup – cricket

Veteran Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh praised Ambati Rayudu’s performance in the opening match of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League and said he deserved a place on the World Cup squad last year. Rayudu was regarded as India’s choice for the no. 4th batting spot in the World Cup squad last year, but Vijay Shankar took it to the post.

In the 2020 IPL season opener between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, Rayudu broke 71 runs on 48 balls for CSK to help his team chase a total of 163.

“The partnership between Rayudu and Du Plessis was the game-changing moment for Chennai Super Kings. We are off to a brilliant start and we have to keep moving forward like this, ”Harbhajan said in an interview with Sports Tak.

The CSK spinner further said: “I remember when we won the IPL two years ago, we beat the Mumbai Indians in the first game. So it bodes well for us and I hope we finish well again ”.

When asked what he has to say about Rayudu’s performance, Harbhajan said that he feels that Rayudu not being selected for the 2019 World Cup was an ‘injustice’ done to him.

“It will be less however much you appreciate Rayudu. I feel like an injustice was done to him when he was chosen to the World Cup team. He definitely should have been there on that team. But he has shown again in this game how much skill he has and that age is on one side and talent is also something to be taken into account, ”said Harbhajan.

Chennai Super Kings will face the Rajasthan Royals on Tuesday.
