Australian batsman and current Rajasthan Royals captain Steve Smith is considered one of the best batsmen in the cricket world. His tactical acumen as a captain is also respected by many. But who does Smith rate as the best captain in world cricket today?
Smith was asked the question by his Royals teammate and England goalie hitter Jos Buttler. “Who is the best captain in world cricket today?” Buttler asked Smith in a video posted by the Rajasthan Royals on the sidelines of IPL 2020.
Smith took his time answering the ‘tough question’ but moved on with current England captain and Kolkata Knight Riders hitter Eoin Morgan.
“Oh, difficult question. I think Eoin Morgan maybe in one day cricket, ”Smith said.

The Rajasthan Royals captain, who has not been in top form in this IPL despite having a good start with fifty successive games in the first two games, said Morgan is “excellent tactically” and is respected by his teammates team.
“Obviously he did very well for England. Hearing from you and Stokesy and highly respected things, very good tactically on the field and yes, I’ll go with him, ”Smith told Buttler.
“Hard to say that for an Australian though,” Buttler replied as the two RR cricketers laughed out loud.
Eoin Morgan has been one of the most successful leaders in world cricket for the past few years. He led England to win the 2019 World Cup at home and has enjoyed unprecedented success as England’s T20I captain.
Also at IPL he has played a crucial role in the KKR leadership group. KKR captain Dinesh Karthik also hailed Morgan as the best captain in the world and said he is lucky to have him by his side at the ongoing IPL.
Smith was also asked to name two cricketers from England that he would like to have on the Australian side and did not hesitate to name Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan Royals sank in another defeat against the Delhi Capitals. They failed to chase 162 for victory Wednesday and were limited to 148-for-8 in their 20 overs as the Capitals regained first place with a 13-run win.
