Kock’s Quinton starter found some form against Sunrisers Hyderabad hitting a 67 of 39 balls and would look to carry that confidence forward in this game. The biggest threat to RR would be IM powerhouse hitters Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard, who have looked sinister the last two games. The other positive aspects of MI have been the way his pacemakers have improved when Bumrah has had a bad day. Trent Boult and James Pattinson have impressed. Bumrah took two wickets in the last game but managed 41 runs, but if he returns to his best, RR will have a rough ride. MI could go with the same side, as they would not want to play the winning combination.
RR, on the other hand, would seek to get back on the winning track having lost his way with two losses after starting with two wins. Both losses were extensive and they would seek to recover strongly. His middle order has been his Achilles heel and he needs to shoot big. Robin Uthappa has failed and so has Riyan Parag. After a spectacular start, Sanju Samson has had scores of 4 and 8. A much better hitting performance is the need of the hour. Don’t be surprised if RR decides to leave Uthappa.
