IPL 2020: ‘Finally the correct use of DK’, Sanjay Manjrekar praises KKR for sending Dinesh Karthik in No. 6 against Sunrisers Hyderabad – cricket

Dinesh Karthik’s two major innings – 58 of 29 balls against Kings XI Punjab and an undefeated 29 of 14 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad – for Kolkata Knight Riders this year have come in at fifth and sixth place. Slightly higher than that, his scores have been 1, 6, 12, 1 and 4, showing that finishing the job appears to be his forte in the game’s shorter format.

Emphasizing the same point, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manrjekar said that number 6 is where you get the best value from DK the batsman.

“Finally the correct use of DK the batter. No 6 with around 5 overs remaining. That’s when you get the most value out of it. Impact entries, ”Manrjekar tweeted during the KKR entries.

Karthik came in when KKR was 105 of 4 in 15 overs. He hit two sixes and two fours and put together a 58-run undefeated position with Eoin Morgan to take KKR to 163 of 5 after Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner called on him to hit first.

It was the partnership of Morgan (34) and Karthik that provided the much-needed push for KKR’s otherwise struggling innings and brought their total to 163, which in the end turned out to be pivotal.

In response, David Warner scored an undefeated 47 but was unable to carry SRH over the line as the match went Super Over after SRH finished 163 of 6 in his assigned 20 overs.

Ferguson pitched the Super Over for KKR and bagged two wickets on the first three balls. It took KKR three races to win the Super Over.

Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik came in to bat for KKR and put their team on the line easily against spinner Rashid Khan.

KKR has now solidified its position in the top four with 10 points from 9 games.
