The Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) is set to start from September 19 in the United Arab Emirates, but Covid-19 cases continue to come among the franchises. Delhi Capitals confirmed on Sunday that a member of the support staff tested positive for Covid-19 during the third round of testing.
“Delhi Capitals assistant physical therapist tested positive for COVID-19. It was going through its mandatory quarantine, and had tested negative in its first two tests carried out upon arrival in Dubai, and tested positive in the third, ”the franchise reported through a press release.

“I had not met with him yet and had not been in contact with any players or staff in the franchise. He was immediately isolated, and is currently at the IPL Isolation Facility in Dubai for the next 14 days, at the end of which he will have to produce two negative reports in order to join the Delhi Capitals team. The franchise’s medical team is in constant contact with him and wishes him a speedy recovery, ”the statement said.
The development comes on a day when the BCCI released the full 2020 IPL schedule. The biosecurity bubble was burst earlier when several members of the Chennai Super Kings contingent tested positive for Covid-19, which also included two players.
While CSK will face the Mumbai Indians in the opening match, Delhi Capitals will play Kings XI Punjab on September 20 in the second match of the season.
