Muscular Indian Amit Mishra has been ruled out of the IPL with a finger injury, dealing a significant blow to the capitals of Delhi. Mishra suffered a flexor tendon injury to the ring finger of his bowling hand while attempting a catch back in the Capitals’ final game against the Kolkata Knight Riders on October 3.
Mishra was the third highest bearer for the Capitals in the IPL and had appeared in their last three matches. He had taken only three plots, but at an economy rate of 7.20. His three wickets were first-rate hitters, including David Warner and Manish Pandey against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Shubman Gill in the game against the Knight Riders, where he threw just two overs before leaving the field injured.
The Capitals will be especially sorry for Mishra’s absence, as wristbands have once again proven themselves to be impact throwers in the first half of the IPL, with Yuzvendra Chahal, Rahul Chahar and Piyush Chawla in the top 10 carrier list. The Capitals are currently second in the points table with three wins from four games.
Mishra was one of two wrist guards on the Capitals team alongside the muscular Nepalese Sandeeep Lamichhane. Now Lamichhane is likely to be drafted into the game XI at the expense of Shimron Hetmyer, who has been used mostly in the lower-middle order.
