Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer has attributed all those big six against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday to the enormous “hard and smart work” he had put into gym sessions as he does not consider himself a “talented player”.
Iyer hit 88 of 38 balls with six sixes seven fours in Delhi’s 18-run win over KKR in an IPL game here.

“I know the hard work and the smart work that I have put in during my gym sessions, so I wouldn’t say that I am a very talented player,” Iyer said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
“It was really necessary for me to take time at the beginning, which I also did in previous games. It was the right time to face the bowlers and then rotate the strike after that as well. Luckily it worked for me. We keep talking about close victories and this was one of them. Really pleased with the way everyone stepped up, ”said Iyer.
Losing captain Dinesh Karthik regretted missing a couple sixes in the middle that probably cost them the match according to him.
“Maybe between 10-13 overs we didn’t get a lot of limits, we also lost a couple of wickets, which sets you back in those chases. To be honest, a couple more than six and we would have crossed the line, ”Karthik said.
