Chennai Super Kings’ poor performance in the current edition of the Indian Premier League continued on Monday, as they were 125/5 below par after choosing to bat against the Rajasthan Royals at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. With just three nine-game victories under their belt, each game is a life or death for MS Dhoni’s team, but their hitters didn’t rise to the occasion and posted one of the lowest totals this season. Disappointed by the team’s poor performance with the bat, the official CSK Twitter user expressed his frustration. CSK used a pleading face emoji to troll. “Test times. #WhistlePodu #WhistleFromHome #Yellove #CSKvRR,” CSK tweeted, poking fun at the slow pace at which their batsmen played, something that is associated with the longer format, not the fast and furious T20 cricket.

Ravindra Jadeja was the leading scorer with an undefeated 35, while Dhoni, playing his 200th IPL match, scored 28 runs while trailing to a negligible total. Sam Curran made a cameo, scoring 22 balls out of 25, while the two seasoned hitters Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson failed to impress once again, hitting just 10 and eight runs respectively.
The Rajasthan Royals bowlers, both spinning and fast, were equally impressive and did not allow CSK to dominate the game at any point.
The spinning leg duo of Shreyas Gopal and Rahul Tewatia were at the top of their game and threw 23 point balls in their eight more combo spell. They both represented one wicket each and gave away just 32 runs.
