Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been seeking their first Indian Premier League title since the tournament started in 2008. They have always had powerful players in their squad such as Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Shane Watson or KL Rahul, but they have always managed to come up short in crucial situations. Criticism has surrounded the team in recent years after RCB finished in the bottom half of the table in consecutive seasons.
It’s not like they haven’t come close to the title in the past. They were the most dominant team in 2016 with De Villiers and Kohli wreaking havoc on them. They reached the final but were defeated by Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Now in 2020 too, they are looking to get their first degree. And Captain Kohli feels the team has the most complete squad this season since 2016.
“I would definitely agree with that (more complete team). The reason we wanted someone like Chris Morris for precisely that reason. He brings a lot of experience to the squad.

“The young people we have chosen this year are also exciting. Someone like Aaron Finch, who has a lot of experience playing international cricket for a while, Josh Philippe, promising, exciting player.
“We have a great balance of experience, the skill required for T20 cricket and the young people on the team who are eager to take on responsibilities and waiting for opportunities.
“To be honest, that 2016 season that we all loved being a part of, since then it is the most balanced that I have felt about the squad, as a system in terms of where we are going. It has been very well cared for now. It is up to us to execute in the field. “
RCB has started training in Dubai for the tournament and will face their 2016 Final Opponents (SRH) in their first IPL 2020 match on September 21.
