The curtain was drawn on the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League on Tuesday in Dubai with the defending champions Mumbai Indians defeating the Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets in a lopsided final. The tournament may not have brought a grand finale to the millions of cricket fans, but it lived up to all expectations and exceeded some of them over the 55 days and 60 matches.
There were some memorable performances from established names like KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner, Kagiso Rabada, Jaspirt Bumrah and Trent Boult, just to name a few, but like every season, the capless players managed to hold on.
Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee said the best part of the season was the appearance of young Indian players. On Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Lee was asked what impressed him the most at IPL 2020. The former Australian great said: “It has been amazing. It has been difficult without fans, but for me the best part of this season has been the arrival of the young Indian players. ”

Lee named RCB batter Devdutt Padikkal and Rajasthan Royals’ Rahul Tewatia as the season highlights.
“The Devdutt Padikkals, the Tewatias … We’ve seen the Delhi Capitals play really good cricket, so I’ll say fast players too, but I’ll always say fast players,” added Lee.
Padikkal was awarded the 2020 IPL Emerging Player. The Karnataka hitter made his IPL debut and turned out to be one of the reliable hitters at the top of the RCB order. In 15 games, he racked up 473 runs, including five half centuries. He was also RCB’s top scorer of runs.
On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals SUV Tewatia was one of the toasts of the season mainly due to its never-say-die attitude. He scored 255 runs and bagged 10 wickets in 14 games. But he will be remembered for hitting five sixes against KXIP’s Sheldon Cottrell in the same game where teammate Sanju Samson turned down the singles as the former struggled to score.
