Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) shared a video from inside the locker room for the last time after exiting the 2020 IPL, following a six-wicket loss to SunRisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator on Friday. While most of RCB’s hitters fought off a quality SRH bowling attack, Villiers’ AB stood his ground during a tough situation, scoring a brave half century. He was the best scorer for RCB, scoring 56 runs on 43 balls to help his side post 131/7. After the defeat, De Villiers thanked all the fans for their support throughout the tournament and also said “sorry” for not going all the way.

The former South Africa captain, who was the team’s third top scorer this season, said they took their “best shot” and came away with a lot of positives. De Villiers scored 454 runs in 15 games, aided by five fifties at a hit rate of 158.7.

Addressing his teammates after their defeat, captain Virat Kohli said that the way the team fought to the end is something they can be proud of and build on the positives heading into next season.
He also thanked the support staff, especially the coaches, for creating a “brilliant structure.”
“I think we played good consistent cricket and fell in the back. We probably didn’t play our best cricket from that Mumbai match onwards that we played here (Abu Dhabi). I would have loved to go even further and I know the fans He really wanted us to go further. But some positives this season, guys like Devdutt (Padikkal) joined the team and they had a great season as a starter. Siraj came back well after a tough season last year. Aaron Finch, who has played for several franchises in the IPL, called it the “best group” he had ever been a part of in the cash-rich league.
“By far the best group I have ever been a part of in the IPL. Being so close together, being in the bubble forced us all to be very close and very tight, it was an incredible experience,” said the skipper from Australia with limited limits .
