Demand for the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max has exceeded expectations, while demand for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini is not as high as expected, according to a note published by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. While many believed that lower-priced iPhones would be Apple’s top sellers, this shows that more buyers than expected would prefer to spend more for the premium option. Kuo also reportedly mentioned in his note that initial demand for the new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro based on the Apple M1 chip was better than expected. Citing his latest survey for the fourth quarter of 2020, Kuo said that overall iPhone 12 shipments were higher than predictions, according to a report from technology blog MyFixGuide. However, the analyst did not provide figures showing growth in shipments.
Kuo reportedly stated that the momentum of shipping the iPhone 12 series would continue into the first half of 2021. It is also seen as a sign that replacement demand for next-generation iPhone models could be in line with demand. iPhone 12 series.
Aside from the iPhone 12 series, Kuo is said to have mentioned in his note that demand for the new iPad Air was better than anticipated. Kuo also reportedly highlighted in the note that demand for the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE was exceeding expectations. On the part of Apple’s audio offerings, Kuo said in the note that AirPods shipments fell in the fourth quarter. It also predicted that AirPods shipments would stabilize or decline by five to 10 percent in the first half of 2021. This is lower than the market’s prediction of 20 percent year-on-year growth.
The report indicated that the AirPods supply chain was tight, primarily to prioritize new iPhone models. However, Apple is said to have postponed scheduled shipments for the new AirPods, also known as AirPods 3, towards the end of the second quarter of 2021.
