The battery capacities of the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 have reportedly been revealed through certifications shared by Brazilian telecoms regulator Anatel. The new reveal comes amid the launch of the iPhone 12 series in global markets. Anatel documents also indicate that the iPhone 12 Pro will be produced at Foxconn’s facilities in Brazil and India, in addition to China. Apple has already used Foxconn units in both countries to make smartphones, including the iPhone 11.
According to a Technoblog report, Anatel has certified the iPhone 12 mini in the country with a 2,227 mAh battery. It has a higher capacity compared to the iPhone SE (2020) which had a 1,821 mAh battery. The blog also reports that the iPhone 12 has been certified with a 2,815 mAh battery, which is less than the 3,110 mAh battery available in the iPhone 11.
Apple does not disclose the battery capacity of its iPhone models as a general practice. However, the official listing on Apple’s site shows that the iPhone 12 mini can deliver up to 15 hours of video playback on a single charge. This is a couple of hours less than the 17 hours of video playback claimed for the iPhone 11. However, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro are rated for the same 17 hours of video playback time.
The battery capacity of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max is still unknown. However, it may crop up sometime around the availability of the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12, scheduled for October 23 in the US and other early markets.
The iPhone 12 Pro certification details obtained from Anatel show that it will be manufactured at Foxconn’s factories in Brazil and India along with its production facility in China. A report in the English daily Business Standard in August claimed that the iPhone 12 would be manufactured locally in India by 2021 at a Wistron facility.
In July, Apple began producing iPhone 11 in the country. The Cupertino company also produces models including the iPhone XR, iPhone 7, iPhone 6s, and the original iPhone SE.
