Apple has updated the iPad Air with a completely new design, a larger screen, and a powerful new processor. The new iPad Air (4th Gen) borrows a lot from the iPad Pro line, but incorporates some new enhancements and achieves a more affordable price, between the iPad Pros and the entry-level iPad. The new iPad Air is available in five colors: silver, space gray, rose gold, green and sky blue. The 64GB W-Fi model is priced at Rs. 54,900 while 256GB will cost Rs. 68,900. The 64GB cellular model will cost Rs. 66,900, going up to Rs. 80,900 for 256 GB. In the US, Wi-Fi and cellular starting prices are $ 599 and $ 729 respectively. It will go on sale in October.

The sides are flat, much like the current iPad Pro and the rumored iPhone 12 series.
Apple touts the quality of its liquid retina display, which has a resolution of 2360×1640 pixels and is fully laminated with an anti-reflective coating. It supports the wide P3 color gamut and Apple’s True Tone color adjustment function.
The new Apple A14 Bionic processor debuts with the iPad Air (4th Gen), which promises up to 40% higher CPU performance and 30% faster graphics than the previous generation. Apple touts better sustained low-power performance for editing 4K videos, playing immersive games, and more.
The company has used an industry-first 5nm manufacturing process to install 11.8 billion transistors in the A14 Bionic SoC and improve energy efficiency. The next-generation 16-core neural engine, plus the new CPU-linked machine learning acceleration, is said to render machine learning operations 70 percent faster.
Demonstrations shown during the launch included real-time monitoring and interpretation of hand movements using the front-facing camera, scratching a virtual record in a DJ app, for example. Games also benefit from improved textures, shadows, and reflections. “Breakthrough” machine learning performance can enable photo enhancement, scaling low-resolution images by recognizing and processing edges, details, colors, gradients, and textures.
As rumored, the new iPad Air features a USB Type-C port instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector, for data transfers of up to 5Gbps, which is said to be 10 times faster. Included in the box is a charger and a 20W Type-C cable. The iPad Air supports external storage devices and up to a 4K monitor via the Type-C port. Wi-Fi 6 and 60 percent faster LTE are also supported with a Nano-SIM or eSIM (on cellular models), in addition to iBeacon micro-location.
Other features include stereo speakers, a 7-megapixel front camera with 1080p video recording and better low-light performance, and the same 12-megapixel rear camera as the iPad Pro with focus pixels and stabilized 4K video recording. The new iPad (8th Gen) retains Apple’s classic iPad design with a physical home button and 10.2-inch Retina display, but a new A12 Bionic processor that is said to be 40 percent faster than the previous generation. Apple promises 2x faster graphics in a package that beats today’s most popular laptops and Chromebooks, as well as Android tablets. The A12 Bionic SoC brings Apple’s neural engine capabilities for machine learning to the most popular and affordable iPad model for the first time, powering new app experiences.
The new iPad (8th Gen) is compatible with Apple and third-party keyboard accessories as well as the 1S t Gen Apple Pencil for note taking and drawing. The 8-megapixel rear camera and the 1.2-megapixel front camera seem unchanged compared to the previous generation. This model also retains the Lightning connector.
