The statement came after Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath recently announced that his government will impose a strict law to curb “love jihad” and forced religious conversion.

Previously, the BJP government led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh had said that the state would soon have a law against “love jihad”.
Commenting on CM’s statement, BJP leader and former minister Ajay Chandrakar said that CM should not make personal comments on the matter.
“The law has not yet been formed by the governments and without reading the draft law, Chhattisgarh CM should avoid making personal comments … The statement made by the CM is below the belt,” said Chandrakar.
