HYDERABAD: Three people, including a Chinese woman, have been arrested for Telangana Police from a Pune Call Center in connection with the instant loan case.
“We have seized 101 laptops, 106 mobile phones and various documents, as well as freezing Rs 1.42 million parked in your company’s bank account,” said an official from the investigation team.
Those arrested were Parshuram Lahu Takve, his wife Liang TianTian, a Chinese national, and call center HR manager Sk Aaqib. TianTian is the third Chinese national to be arrested in cases related to digital loan fraud. On December 25, Cyberabad police arrested Chinese citizen Yi Bai alias Dennis, a native of Jiangxi in Shanghai from Delhi for illegally executing 11 money loan applications and offer small loans to individuals between 20 and 40 years at extremely high interest rates. So far, Telangana police have arrested 18 people from call centers across the country after four victims, including an agriculture officer and a software engineer, committed suicide and dozens of people said they were harassed and their photos were shared on social media by companies. to shame them for defaulting on loans.
Police said the defendant had an agreement with four financial companies based in Mumbai and Mysore to recover money from people who borrowed from them through 16 instant loan applications owned and operated by them. The defendant set up a call center in Pune for this purpose.
“They used to call people who took loans and defaulters to collect money at the request of the financiers. The callers used to abuse clients and also threatened them with dire consequences, ”Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagawat said at a press conference.
