Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered officials to accelerate work on the 36,410 crore Ganga highway project after the Purvanchal and Bundelkhand expressways.
UP CM, after reviewing the preparations for the construction work, directed the concerned officials to work in “mission mode” to begin the project.
Adityanath in a statement on Friday said the foundation stone of the 594-kilometer-long Meerut-Allahabad six-lane highway would be laid in June 2021. He added that 90% of the land acquisition work for the project will be completed. at that moment.
The acquisition of land is estimated to cost Rs 9,255 million to the treasury, while Rs 22,145 million will be used for civil works.
The statement added that the highway will pass through twelve districts of Meerut, Bulandshahr, Hapur, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli, Pratapgarh and Allahabad.
Adityanath said that industrial areas will be established in these districts, adding that infrastructure development has been one of his government’s top priorities.
Funding for the project has not yet been finalized, but the state government has received proposals from foreign institutions and Indian banks for the project.
The state government in its 2020-21 budget had allocated Rs 2,000 crore for the project.
Phase I of the Ganga Highway will cover the districts of Meerut, Jyotibha Phule Nagar, Hapur, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Furrukhabad, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareilly, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj. There will be five main bridges, eight highway bridges, and 18 flyovers. The highway will have a 6-lane controlled access configuration (expandable to 8 lanes).
