India’s women’s tour of Australia has been postponed for next season, Cricket Australia confirmed on Thursday (December 31). The two teams were originally scheduled to play three one-day Internationals in January 2021.

“We are very hopeful to offer an expanded schedule between the Australian and Indian women’s teams for next season, which would be an outstanding result for fans in both countries,” said Nick Hockley, Acting CEO of Australia, “We were initially hoping to play against India this summer, however, the impact of the global pandemic made it necessary to postpone it until next season.

“It will be wonderful to once again host the Indian women’s team, which was the center stage for that unforgettable ICC T20 World Cup final at MCG in March, and to do so with an extended schedule than originally planned.”

Cricket Australia also stated that there are plans to expand the tour next season and even include three T20 Internationals as part of it. The dates and venues of the matches will be confirmed in due course.
