The daily count of new cases of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in India continues to fall. On Monday, the country registered 66,732 new cases, bringing the tally to 7,120,538, according to the Union Ministry of Health.
The number of new deaths also dropped for the ninth day in a row. According to the Ministry of Health update at 8am, India recorded 816 deaths due to infection in the last 24 hours.
Almost 84 percent of these fats come from 10 states, and Maharashtra has reported the peak number (308) of these deaths. Kill count is now 1.09,150.
The number of active cases was further reduced to 8,61,853, while 61,49,535 patients have been cured of the disease, according to the Ministry of Health.
India’s coronavirus cases rose from 10 lakh to 20 lakh in 21 days. Then it took 16 more days to go above 30 lakh, 13 more days to cross the 40 lakh mark, and 11 days to go above 50 lakh. Cases increased from 50 lakh to 60 lakh in 12 days.
It took 110 days for Covid-19 cases in the country to reach one lakh, while it took 59 more days to break the 10 lakh mark.
Covid-19’s fatality rate (CFR) stands at 1.54 percent, the Health Ministry said on Sunday.
According to the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 8,68,77,242 samples have been analyzed as of October 10 and 10,78,544 samples have been analyzed on Saturday.
